\u00e9p\u00fclet egyik sz\u00e1rnya a k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rnak adott helyet, amely a v\u00e1ros lakoss\u00e1g\u00e1nak olvas\u00f3ig\u00e9ny\u00e9t igyekezett kiel\u00e9g\u00edteni.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nTextJustify\">Fenn\u00e1ll\u00e1sa \u00f3ta a v\u00e1s\u00e1rhelyi k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r egyre t\u00f6bb min\u0151s\u00e9gben gyarapodott, \u00edgy \u00e9rt\u00e9kekben, m\u00e9lt\u00f3s\u00e1gban megk\u00fcl\u00f6nb\u00f6ztette mag\u00e1t m\u00e1s k\u00f6zm\u0171vel\u0151d\u00e9si k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rakt\u00f3l, nem csak az \u00e1llom\u00e1ny gazdags\u00e1g\u00e1t illet\u0151en (t\u00f6bb, mint 1000000 lelt\u00e1ri egys\u00e9g), hanem a lakoss\u00e1g rendelkez\u00e9s\u00e9re \u00e1ll\u00f3 inform\u00e1ci\u00f3k v\u00e1ltozatoss\u00e1ga \u00e9s b\u0151s\u00e9ge r\u00e9v\u00e9n is.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nTextJustify\">Az olvas\u00f3knak, illetve azoknak, akik az int\u00e9zm\u00e9ny fejl\u0151d\u00e9s\u00e9t ir\u00e1ny\u00edtott\u00e1k minden t\u00e9ren, gondjuk volt r\u00e1, hogy az \u00e1llom\u00e1ny kiegyens\u00falyozottan \u00e9p\u00fclj\u00f6n. Az els\u0151ben nagyr\u00e9szt adom\u00e1nyokb\u00f3l j\u00f6tt l\u00e9tre egy sz\u00e9les \u00e9rdekl\u0151d\u00e9si ter\u00fcletet ell\u00e1t\u00f3 \u00e1llom\u00e1ny, amely f\u0151leg a k\u00f6zm\u0171vel\u0151d\u00e9si olvas\u00e1si ig\u00e9nyeknek sz\u00e1nd\u00e9kozott eleget tenni, ezzel p\u00e1rhuzamosan visszamen\u0151leges kieg\u00e9sz\u00edt\u00e9sre is igyekezetek a k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rosok. Ez a szakasz a m\u00e1sodik vil\u00e1gh\u00e1bor\u00fa elej\u00e9ig tartott. Moln\u00e1r G\u00e1bor \u00e9s Aurel Filimon elk\u00e9pzel\u00e9sei alapj\u00e1n megalakult a nagy k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rakhoz m\u00e9lt\u00f3 ritka- illetve bibliofil k\u00f6nyv\u00e1llom\u00e1ny, g\u00f6r\u00f6g \u00e9s r\u00f3mai klasszikusok kritikai kiad\u00e1saib\u00f3l, r\u00e9gi rom\u00e1n \u00e9s magyar, illetve erd\u00e9lyi k\u00f6nyvekb\u0151l, valamint periodika, plak\u00e1tok, sz\u00f3r\u00f3lapok, ikonogr\u00e1fia begy\u0171jt\u00e9s\u00e9b\u0151l.<\/p>\n\n<p>Amint a kiadv\u00e1nyok sz\u00e1ma \u00e9s enciklop\u00e9dikus jellege n\u00f6vekedett, a k\u00e9s\u0151bbi k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rosok v\u00e1ltozatosabb\u00e1 form\u00e1lt\u00e1k a szolg\u00e1ltat\u00e1sok \u00e9s r\u00e9szlegek saj\u00e1toss\u00e1gait, az id\u0151beli v\u00e1ltoz\u00e1sok \u00e9s az \u00e1llom\u00e1nyok tematikus b\u0151v\u00fcl\u00e9se f\u00fcggv\u00e9ny\u00e9ben.<\/p> \n\n<p>Az els\u0151 r\u00e9szleg, amely k\u00fcl\u00f6nv\u00e1lt az addig egys\u00e9ges k\u00f6nyvt\u00e1rt\u00f3l a Gyermekk\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r volt 1952-ben.<\/p>\n\n<p>Ezut\u00e1n sz\u00e9tv\u00e1ltak a k\u00f6lcs\u00f6nz\u0151 \u00e9s az olvas\u00f3terem \u00e1llom\u00e1nyai (1961), a m\u0171szaki \u00e9s tudom\u00e1nyos k\u00f6nyvek r\u00e9szlege (1964, 1974), a m\u0171v\u00e9szeti r\u00e9szleg (teatrol\u00f3gia, k\u00e9pz\u0151m\u0171v\u00e9szetek, zene), periodika-r\u00e9szleg, speci\u00e1lis \u00e1llom\u00e1nyok, majd n\u00e9gy fi\u00f3kk\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r a s\u0171r\u0171bben lakott v\u00e1rosr\u00e9szekben.
